On 28th September 2012 the Monitoring Committee (MC) of the South East Europe (SEE) Transnational Cooperation Programme confirmed the approval of the project proposal “Towards resource efficient urban communities in SEE (RE-SEEties)” submitted last November under the 4th Call for proposals.

The RE-SEEties project responds to AoI 2.4 “Promote energy and resource efficiency” and the main objective is to improve the integrated policy-making and strategic planning competences of SEE municipalities in the field of energy efficiency, RES and waste valorisation, for the purpose of changing consumption patterns and supporting changing demands with innovative solutions, tools and incentives.

RE-SEEties is leaded by the Local Government of Budapest District 18 and involves partners from 8 SEE cities and regions (18th District in HU, Potenza Municipality in IT, Egaleo Municipality in GR, HEMPS in RO, City of Nitra in SK, BISTRA in SI, REGEA in HR, City of Skopje in FYRO MK) which are in charge of design, planning and future implementation of development strategies.

Their work is supported by professional institution PPs representing all important expertises needed for the joint work: methodological framework (CNR-IMAA), RES issues (CRES), SEAP development (REGEA), sensitization of target groups (Energiaklub), waste management (MACEF).

The involvement of other bodies as observers or ASPs in the extended partnership (among which Potenza Province-IT and ICLEI “Local Governments for Sustainability”) guarantees that each participating partner city is supported by an endorsing body that has significant political clout in the process of approving project results contributing to a wider dissemination of project achievements at national and international levels.
